About Us

We are THE Linux and open-source company from Garching near Munich. We offer IT services in the field of infrastructure and focus on Linux in the data center, and are the leading Linux system house in the German-speaking region. We provide professional IT consulting, innovative engineering, and first-class technical support. The basic principles of our work are:

  • Expertise
  • Independence
  • Professionalism
  • Flexibility

Goals

We aim at generating added value for companies. To do so, we rely on individual consultation, the use of our products, and maximum transfer of knowledge, while focusing on Linux. We contribute to establishing Linux as standard in business-critical environments. Our independence from manufacturers is significant.

Expertise

We deal responsibly with all IT issues. We examine and assess existing security risks and anticipate the impact of new developments. Based on this knowledge, we offer our customers services in the three core topics consulting, engineering, and support. Information is our capital, which is why internal knowledge sharing has the highest priority.

Way of Working

First and foremost, we work as a team. Specialists and all-rounders work hand in hand, bearing in mind their specialist competence. We live a cooperative leadership style, sustained by trust and mutual respect. Our work is characterized by quality, independence, and service orientation. In doing so, we adhere to the principle “never stop learning.” For this reason, we increase our knowledge with continuous training. We make sure that newly acquired expertise is accessible to all team members, so that we can react quickly and in a targeted way to the steadily growing challenges of IT.

Management

Thomas Merz, Chairman

To the displeasure of his parents, he discovered his passion for everything that rings, beeps, or transmits data at an early stage. In the early 1990s, he was one of the few young people with his own mobile phone, internet access, and e-mail address. His “favorite pastime” is the telecommunications infrastructure of ATIX—sometimes to the employees’ delight, at other times rather not.

“The majority of society now takes omnipresent means of communication for granted without question—whatever is technically feasible and easy to operate will finds its users. Understanding the technical connections, dependencies, and possibilities behind it all as well as the resulting risks is probably one of the most current and exciting IT topics of the coming years.”

Mark Hlawatschek, CEO (Head of Consulting)

Mark Hlawatschek, born in 1975, is a member of the executive board and responsible for IT consulting and engineering. In 1995, the studied electrical and information engineer founded the company from which ATIX Informationstechnologie und Consulting AG emerged in 2007. By developing the reference architecture for high-availability SAP installations on Linux and similar projects, he helped initiate the triumphant advance of Enterprise Linux infrastructures. Today, he is driving the standardization and automation of infrastructures and the operation of secure virtual data centers.

“The development of IT infrastructures is one of the most impressive topics of our time. The industrial revolution in the area of setting up and operating IT landscapes has only just begun. Here, we can learn from the experience in other areas and rely on open standards and interfaces. I also see the field of data security and ownership as exciting challenges for the future.”
