ATIX Crew on Tour: Geocaching and pasta salad by the water
Our trainee Nadja explains:
This year’s ATIX excursion took the bus to Lake Starnberg on May 24th, 2019 around midday.
Before that, vegetables were diligently chopped up and salads were seasoned in the ATIX kitchen. At 1 p.m. we set off. Head south by coach. Before we left, some colleagues had decided that it would be better for the beer carriers to ride up in the bus with us instead of in the trunk.
One or two cold drinks were consumed on the journey. Others used the time to catch up on some sleep or discuss the last Game of Thrones episode. When we arrived at the lake, geocaching began with the proper search for a parking space .
The first item on the agenda was geocaching. It’s exciting to be in a team with lots of technology enthusiasts and doctors, even if you’ve never used a GPS device before, let alone understood it. The ATIX crew divided into several groups, then the GPS devices and auxiliary items were distributed and off we went. Some colleagues sprinted past the other groups in a highly motivated manner, while others took things a little more leisurely. Quote: “There is no lion after us…”.
According to the organizer’s experience, a round of geocaching takes around 2.5 hours. The ATIX teams took this as a challenge and found the 10 coordinates with the corresponding puzzles within just 1.5 hours.
When all the teams reached the finish line after such a short time, the guide was visibly surprised. “Nobody has ever done it so quickly, it’s a new record.” As a reward, the winning team received a bottle of champagne, which was of course shared with the second and third place teams.
After the sporting part, things were relaxed. We chose a nice spot down by the water and, working as a team, quickly cleared out the bus. Beer benches, grills and all sorts of delicious salads and side dishes were carried from the bus towards the shore. The grill was turned on, the music turned up, the first beer was drunk and our feet were dipped in the cold water – then there was finally food! – how happy everyone was then.
We ended the day together at sunset with a view of the mountains and a game or two of Viking chess. – That’s it! -Nadja
