PaNOrama – an unforgettable day of hiking with the ATIX crew

Our boss Mark set himself an ambitious goal at the KickOff at the beginning of the year: The ATIX crew should go high – namely to the mountain! In order to achieve this, we organized diligently until it was clear that it would be on July 20th to the Sonnen alm on the Kampenwand.

Above all, the team idea was at the forefront of the planning and so there should actually be the right route for each crew member. So those who like to save their energy went up in the gondola, the rest hiked. After a little refreshment at the hut, everyone set off together on a circular route to enjoy the impressive mountain panorama – that was the plan, but everything turned out differently…

But first things first:

The trip started on Friday morning, where everyone met arrived at the ATIX headquarters in Garching at 10 a.m. sharp. After everyone was packed into the car, we set off towards Aschau. Once there, we set off to the Kampenwand either on foot or by gondola.

In the best weather we walked along a beautiful forest hiking trail towards the Sonnenalm. On the way, our colleagues Jonas and Frank gave us plenty of cake and sausages to fortify us and so the entire ATIX crew was able to complete the climb.

The gondola drivers were already waiting for the hikers on the mountain pasture. After a shared snack, we set off for the aforementioned panoramic path. This led around the summit of the Kampenwand, which was planned to be climbed the next day.

Everyone set off fully motivated and enjoyed the view of the mountain panorama that presented itself to us at the beginning of the path. But suddenly everything changed! The path became narrow, narrow and went uphill. After a long climb, we thought it would get better despite the still very narrow (and somewhat overgrown) path, because after all it was now downhill. Although the markings on the side of the path showed that we were still on the right path, the Sonnenalm didn’t really come into sight again. But then, out of nowhere, she appeared. Driven by the sight, the ATIX crew mastered a final steep climb over hill and dale and arrived at the mountain pasture. To refresh themselves there were cool drinks for everyone (although most people initially preferred water or juice to beer 😉 ).

Freshly showered and refreshed, the ATIX crew ended the evening with a delicious barbecue and lots of fun games.

Although the athletes among us in particular were fully motivated to climb the summit the next day, it literally fell through: we had started our hike the day before in beautiful weather, but this prevented us from climbing the next day to the summit cross. When it was raining and visibility was extremely poor, we opted for the leisurely option and took the gondola back to the parking lot.

Despite the hardships of the PaNOrama journey, we all had two wonderful, fun days and a lot to talk about when we got home 🙂

Thank you Mark for this cool trip and we’re looking forward to the next one – maybe then the “Panorama” will just have a little more to do 😉
