There was a lot going on at this year’s B2Run Munich: loud drumming, “lively” veal sausages, runners in Mario Karts (no joke), food, even louder music, drinking, great atmosphere in the bright sunshine – everything was great.

The ATIX crew met as planned (and even on time) at the Olympic Tower so that the runners could get to the starting block in time for their start at 19:20. The accompanying support team also made it into the stadium without any major problems and were able to position themselves well so that they could photograph the runners as they crossed the finish line – everything was still great.

But then dark clouds began to gather…

According to the German Weather Service, a “heavy thunderstorm” passed over Munich and of course also over the running course. In fact, it got dark quite quickly and then really wet…

B2Run 2018 Nass 2

Understandably, the start was aborted at this point for safety reasons. The runners who were ready to start were told to take shelter and wait out the thunderstorm. Hardly anyone let this spoil their mood. Even soaking wet, the party continued.

After about half an hour the rain let up, the sun came out and thousands of runners were highly motivated and ready to start.

And then came what nobody had expected after the change in the weather: the run was canceled.

The understanding of all the runners who were ready to start was then clearly limited. Just to make it clear once again: the sun was shining brightly in the meantime!

butonly a few were impressed – and certainly not the ATIX crew! As soon as the first opening appeared in the safety barrier, three of our runners sprinted off together with many others.

And THIS is what winners look like!

Nevertheless, we are of course looking forward to next year and hope to be able to run again with a full team in the best weather!
