Hangar Release 2025_10 – Stay Up to Date with Kubernetes Cluster Management Enhancements
Migration to operator pattern
With this release, we have fundamentally converted Hangar to the operator pattern. This architectural change offers numerous advantages:
- Declarative configuration of clusters via Kubernetes-native CRDs
- Improved lifecycle management with automatic status management
- Greater stability and easier maintenance of the entire system
Extended multi-client capability
Multi-client capability has been significantly expanded and optimized:
- Differentiated user roles with clearly defined permissions
- Role-based KubeConfig generation with automatic permission checking
- Improved integration of Keycloak for centralized identity management
Improved node management
Important functions have been added to node management:
- Burstable dummy pods for precise resource monitoring in infrastructure clusters
- Transparent display of node resources/node sizes in the UI
Infrastructure as Code
For improved deployment and maintenance:
- Integration of Keycloak into the Hangar Helmchart
- Preconfigured Keycloak instance, ideal for deploying development and testing environments
Performance & Stability
Numerous improvements for more robust operation:
- Comprehensive test suite for operators with complete lifecycle coverage
- Optimized CI/CD pipeline for faster and more reliable releases
- Support for the latest Kubernetes versions (1.31 – 1.33)
- Simplified installation and configuration for a better user experience
