OpenVox

OpenVox is a community-driven fork of Puppet, launched in late 2024 in response to Perforce’s decision to close-source Puppet. With the goal of preserving a fully open-source configuration management solution, OpenVox ensures compatibility with existing Puppet modules and infrastructure. It is maintained by the active and trusted Vox Populi community—well-known for maintaining a wide array of Puppet modules.

OpenVox allows organizations to continue using infrastructure as code principles without vendor lock-in, license constraints, or reduced transparency. It provides a reliable alternative for teams seeking stability, security, and openness in their automation environments.
