Projects in Gitlab not only contain a git repository in their namespace, but also provide planning and management features, a built-in wiki, issue tracking, Kanban like issue boards, threaded discussions on merge requests, and CI/CD capabilities. The core functionality of Gitlab is open source software and can be self-hosted.
